Welcome to Lux Max Annex

16220 N Scottsdale Rd #280, Scottsdale, AZ 85254, United States

General Info

Tucked into Scottsdale at 16220 N Scottsdale Rd #280, Lux Max Annex feels like the kind of coffee shop you stumble upon once-and then keep coming back to. The space has an easygoing vibe that works whether you’re grabbing a quick breakfast or settling in for a relaxed morning. It’s especially welcoming for tourists exploring the area, and the wheelchair accessible parking lot makes it convenient for everyone to stop by without hassle.

What stood out right away was how approachable the menu is. It leans into comfort food without overcomplicating things, which honestly makes the experience better. The highlight here is the breakfast burrito-packed with potato, egg, cheese, and salsa. It’s hearty, satisfying, and exactly what you want when you need something filling but still flavorful. The balance of textures, from the soft eggs to the slight bite of the potatoes, works really well. Plus, the salsa adds just enough kick without overpowering everything else.

As a coffee shop, Lux Max Annex also delivers on the basics you expect. It’s a solid spot for a morning coffee paired with a proper breakfast, but it doesn’t feel rushed or overly busy. Instead, there’s a calm rhythm to the place. You’ll notice people chatting quietly, some working on laptops, others just enjoying their food. That kind of atmosphere makes a big difference, especially if you’re looking for somewhere to unwind.

The layout is practical too. Having a restroom available is always appreciated, and everything feels clean and well-maintained. It’s the kind of detail that doesn’t stand out immediately but adds to the overall comfort once you’re there. The location itself is also easy to find, which makes it a convenient stop whether you’re local or just passing through Scottsdale.

From a review standpoint, Lux Max Annex keeps things simple-and that’s its strength. It doesn’t try to be overly trendy or complicated. Instead, it focuses on doing a few things really well: good coffee, satisfying breakfast options, and a welcoming environment. If you’re browsing locations for a dependable breakfast spot with a relaxed feel, this one fits naturally into the mix.

There’s something genuine about the experience here. You’re not just stopping for a meal-you’re stepping into a place that feels consistent, comfortable, and easy to enjoy.

What customers say?

“ I’m a total coffee shop snob, and this place was absolutely fantastic. I got a breve latte and it was on point. Not too dark not too light. Great atmosphere with speedy service too. The prices are typical like most coffee shops. Next time, maybe we will try some food. I highly recommend this hidden gem. ”

“ Their espresso drinks and beans are some of our favorites. The pastries, both savory and sweet, are worth stocking up on. My favorite coffee shop in the area. ”

“ Delicious and tasteful coffee. Cute location and lots of seating both indoor and outdoor. I love this spot as it’s always a cute little hide away from normal life. When staying in town it’s a bit of a walk from the area I’m at, but worth the journey. They play a bit of louder music so if you’re trying to work from home and need a quiet environment I’d just suggest sitting outside. Their WiFi is fast and free. Aside from the anticipated tasteful coffee they also offer teas, sodas, and some alcoholic beverages even. Most notable is their bakery - brownies, croissants, bars, danishes, cookies, breakfast items and sandwiches. SO amazing. Probably the best brownie I’ve ever had. My recommendation is a honey lavender latte iced, and the m&m brownie. Definitely come check this place out! The pricing is anticipated for Scottsdale about $6 for a medium coffee but goes up as you make additions to it. Located in a building with lots of parking and pink decor highlighting the entrance. ”

“ My man, Troy, is the BEST! I love it when coffee shops have staff that actually enjoys their job, and enjoys the customers. People like Troy will keep me coming back. Lux's baked goods are out of this world, and the large variety they have means there is something for everyone! I especially love that they have pastries and baked goods you don't find anywhere else, and I know they're made from scratch. Love. Love. Love. With all the love, there are two areas that I think they could tinker with. I wish they also had some unique lattes to go along with their unique pastries. (It would also be nice if they had an option for breve drinks). And the second thing would be seating. They've changed it a couple times, but right now it is rather awkward. The long row of chairs against the wall isn't that inviting (or useable for a group), and the long row of tables in the middle isn't ideal. If you want to go to coffee to visit with friends, you don't want to do that at a communal table. Feels more like a library that way. I also think the large columns in the entry take up a lot of useable space, making the room feel cluttered. THAT SAID - I will come back again, and again, and again!! ”

“ I love this little coffee shop! The coffee and espresso are both sooo good, & I’m picky about my lattes. The baristas know what they’re doing! The pastries are all so delicious. The service is always amazing too - friendly and fast. ”

“ Great pastry selection..I had a raspberry sweet cheese Danish warmed up and good. I didn't have anything else but the sandwiches coming out for lunch looked really good. I think this place is a love it or hate it... it's a unique vibe. I like windows and this has none. It's very dark and oddly lit. But it's totally up to to preference ”

“ Weird but beautiful location. They have good coffee and breakfast. You would not know it’s a breakfast place until you go inside. There is a small sign on the Glassdoor. You can easily miss it. ”

“ Overall, this is a great local spot! I had to go with 4-stars because of the WiFi speeds and Americano. Especially in 2024, good internet is one of the most important things a coffee shop can offer. Many people meet here to get work done and lackluster WiFi means a less productive meeting. I’ve left the speed test below which is the mid-range of the 3 tests I ran. While visiting on this particular day I tried the Americano and Farmer’s Market Scramble. The Americano was okay but nothing I’d rush back here for. The Farmer’s Market Scramble and Toast were good, and I appreciated the portion size the most! So many places skimp these days. The location can be a bit tricky. If visiting via Scottsdale Road, park in the furthest parking lot. If you park in the first one you see, you’re in for a walk. Note: Look for the pink awnings. There is a good amount of seating inside (many with outlets) and more seating outside. As summer hits, the outside seating may be a bit rough as I didn’t see any misting system. I hope you enjoy should you choose to visit! ”
